मरे हुए मेंढकों का नायाब संग्रहालय...
Ajab-Gazab: It may be a small country, but Switzerland has a lot of museums. According to the Swiss government’s first official study, released earlier this week, there are a total of 1,111 museums across the country.
The dead frog museum is a Bizarre tourist attraction. This odd concept was born in Francois Perrier's mind in the 1850s. He was a former Napoleonic Guard officer.
Fascinated by amphibians, Perrier collected them during his country walks and brought them home to stuff them and then he posed the small animals in dioramas that replicated 'typical scenes from everyday life in the town'.
His froggy scenes depict the unfortunate creatures in multiple scenes including in the schoolroom, playing cards and as soldiers in the army. One shows frogs sitting around a banqueting table while another sees a frog riding a (stuffed, obviously) squirrel.
Originally opened in 1927 but renovated a couple of years ago, this truly surreal museum in Estavayer-le-Lac presents a collection of 108 stuffed frogs displayed in scenes from everyday life in the 19th century.
